Happy Granny Square Day 2017!! This is the fourth annual celebration of all things granny square. I discovered this special day on Instagram, and found a lovely group on Facebook to join (you can find the group HERE, if you’re interested in joining, too). When I stumbled across the hashtag on Instagram, I had no idea what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised!! There’s a VIRTUAL Granny Square blanket made up of photos that people have posted using the hashtag #GrannySquareDay2017, and it’s so cool to see. I’ve seen so many squares that I want to try, and I love the color combinations that everyone is using. It’s all so inspiring!
Granny Squares have always reminded me of my grandmother, who taught me how to crochet. Every time I see anything done with a granny stitch, I think of her. Sadly, granny squares are not usually a staple in my crocheting repertoire. When I was younger, I used to think of them as “boring”. But lately, Granny Square Day has inspired me to rethink the possibilities. And for the celebration, I thought I would spend today creating a variety of granny squares from patterns by some of my favorite designers to showcase just how fun granny squares can be. Watch this page, my Facebook page, or check me out on Instagram to see all the fun I am having with Granny Squares!
